On change

So my Economics midterm supposedly for today got moved to next week (a good thing, because I haven't studied at all), and my next class took all of two minutes, which pretty much renders this day useless. I'm due for some shizot at 12:30, so yay, free time for now.

I'd like to talk about -- and maybe reflect upon -- how, lately, I've found myself witness to a wide assortment of changes to everyday routine. It's quite strange, really. Here are some of the things that have been weirding me out:

1. The cafeteria in school is finally doing away with all forms of disposables. It's still a transition period as of now, so people have a choice of either "dine in" (eat in the caf, with reusable plates and utensils) and "take out" (bring food outside, with disposables). By the end of the transition period, anyone wanting to take out food must have their own reusable baunan. Sure, I'm all for helping the environment, and the stricter CLAYGO system should help prevent certain coño idiots from not cleaning up after themselves, but right now, everything just seems really, really creepy.

2. McDonald's, my usual substitute for the hideous food at the Loyola Schools cafeteria, has been increasing their prices at a steady rate of 5 fucking pesos every other day or so. But caf food still sucks, and McDonald's (sadly) remains the better alternative. Inelastic commodity?! Che, economics!

3. A number of important U-turn slots along Katipunan have been "experimentally" removed, requiring south-bound vehicles going to Ateneo (which is at the north-bound side) to either a) squeeze from five to barely two fucking lanes into a narrow service road to get to a U-turn slot under the flyover, or b) go over the flyover and U-turn all the way in fucking Santolan.

4. Effective today, August 15, there will be no more tricycles along Katipunan, sending commuters' and tricycle operators' lives grinding to a screeching halt. According to the law, tricycles are not allowed on major thoroughfares like Katipunan Avenue, which is part of C5. And it took the MMDA how long to realize that?

5. The redesigned Blogger Dashboard is strange.

As for my reflection on these hard times: change is often difficult, but society will not advance without it. Thank you.
